10 Best Summons To Use In FF7 Rebirth

Summons are powerful creatures in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth that your party can call upon as the best allies to help in tough fights. Only one red Materia orb containing a beast of this magnitude can be carried by your whole team, so picking the strongest Summon can be tricky. You’ll have to learn which abilities and attacks Summons use to determine which one to bring into your next battle.

Most of the time, a Summon’s location in FF7 Rebirth is as a boss fight in Chadley’s Combat Simulator. Your party often has to defeat a Summon in battle to unlock its Materia, but there are a few of these creatures in your inventory when you begin Chapter 2. Stronger Summons are typically found with Chadley in later regions, so keep checking in with the scientist as you progress.

10 Chocobo & Moogle

Dynamic Duo of Wind

FF7 Rebirth Chocobo & Moogle summon

Ability #1

Ability #2

Ultimate Ability

Stat Boosts

Chocobo Kick (1 ATB) – Run toward an enemy and unleash a powerful kick. Significantly increases stagger.

Moogle Blast (1 ATB) – Throw a bomb that has a wide blast range.

Stampede – Deals a large amount of Wind damage.

  • +1 MP
  • +4 Magic Attack
  • + 2 Magic
  • +2 Luck

One of the starting Summon Materia your party has is Chocobo & Moogle, an ally that deals Wind and non-elemental damage to your enemies equally. Unlike the other starting Summons Ifrit and Shiva, more enemies in the early Chapters have weaknesses to Wind that you can exploit. Boosts to Magic stats will also help your party take advantage of the best Materia in FF7 Rebirth you get first in your adventure.

9 Ramuh

Master of Lightning

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade Ramuh

Ability #1

Ability #2

Ultimate Ability

Stat Boosts

Voltaic Lance (1 ATB) – Summon a lance of lightning that deals damage to nearby enemies.

Circuitous Bolt (2 ATB) – Shoot a lightning bolt in a circular arc.

Judgment Bolt – Deals a massive amount of Lightning magic damage.

  • +40 HP
  • +1 MP
  • +4 Attack
  • +4 Magic Attack
  • +2 Strength
  • + 2 Magic

The Ramuh Summon is one of the two creatures you can only get at the start of FF7 Rebirth if you have a save file of FF7 Remake: Intergrade. This strong spellcaster hurls Lightning attacks on enemies in large Area of Effect (AoE) strikes, making this Summon great for handling crowds. The extra HP boost for party members in addition to physical and magical attacking bonuses can also be helpful buffs.

Like any character ability derived from new weapons, you have to build bars of ATB to call upon a Summon’s skills. The Ultimate ability of a Summon will automatically happen as it leaves when its Summon meter fully depletes during a fight.

8 Titan

Earthen God of Destruction

The Titan Summon appearing in Chadley's combat simulator in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Ability #1

Ability #2

Ultimate Ability

Stat Boosts

Mountain Crusher (1 ATB) – Launch a flurry of earth-shattering blows.

Boulder Hurl (2 ATB) – Throw an enormous cluster of rocks, damaging enemies near Titan and then the target of this attack.

Earthen Fury – Deals a massive amount of non-elemental damage.

  • +86 HP
  • +1 MP
  • +5 Defense
  • +5 Vitality

Titan is the first Summon you can unlock through Chadley after you defeat it in a deadly boss battle. You can make this fight easier by discovering Divine Intel locations in FF7 Rebirth, which are shrines scattered throughout the region where you can get Titan. These areas also serve to upgrade this Summon, making them last longer and become more powerful when used to aid your party.

Few Summons are as straightforward as Titan, whose non-elemental attacks do not have to worry about enemy resistances. This Summon deals heavy damage that can knock out even some of the toughest foes in starting Chapters of FF7 Rebirth. While their damage may not compare to other Summons on this list, Titan gives your party strong defensive stat boosts that can help you withstand greater dangers.

7 Leviathan

Water Serpent of Magical Blessings

Ability #1

Ability #2

Ultimate Ability

Stat Boosts

Briny Yellow (2 ATB) – Spew a concentrated beam of water in a wide arc. Significantly increases stagger.

Gyre Spume (2 ATB) – Harness and release a massive concentration of water to damage nearby enemies.

Tidal Wave – Deals a massive amount of non-elemental damage.

  • +2 MP
  • +4 Magic Attack
  • +2 Magic Defense
  • +2 Magic
  • +2 Spirit

You obtain Leviathan the same way you get Ramuh in FF7 Rebirth, but this Summon’s abilities differ in many ways. All of Leviathan’s skills cost more ATB to use, but they deal far more damage over a larger area than most Summons you’ll find in the game. The stats boosted from this Summon empower everything related to Magic for a character, letting you defend against spells and cast stronger ones more often.

Green magic Materia can cast a variety of spells in FF7 Rebirth, with the best ones buffing allies, debuffing enemies, or dealing elemental damage.

Thankfully, you don’t need to beat Leviathan’s boss fight in FF7 Remake: Intergrade to unlock this water serpent for FF7 Rebirth. 6 Kujata

Triple Elemental Threat

FF7 Rebirth Kujata Summon

Ability #1

Ability #2/3

Ultimate Ability

Stat Boosts

Raging Bull (1 ATB) – Charge at an enemy with reckless abandon.

Blazing/Chilling Horn (2 ATB) – Launch a concentrated burst of fiery OR icy energy at an enemy.

Tri-Disaster – Deals a massive amount of fire, ice, and lightning Magic damage.

  • +216 HP
  • +1 MP
  • +4 Attack
  • +2 Strength

The Summon Kujata is similar to the Chocobo & Moogle, dealing multiple forms of elemental damage to enemies you target. However, this Summon can inflict three different types of Magic element damage, allowing you to target the weakness of various foes your party encounters. Unfortunately, enemies that resist certain elements will be hard to defeat even with this powerful Summon at your side.

The Raging Bull ability from Kujata does non-elemental damage, giving you at least one option with this Summon that can still be useful against foes who resist fire, ice, or lightning elemental damage.

Even against enemies who resist Kujata’s strikes, the massive bonus to your party’s health that comes from this Summon cannot be denied. While it may not be as focused on your overall defense as the Titan Summon in FF7 Rebirth, you still gain boosts to attacking power that can help you take down tough opponents.

5 Phoenix

Fanning Flames of Recovery

Ability #1

Ability #2

Ability #3

Ultimate Ability

Stat Boosts

Crimson Rondure (1 ATB) – Damage nearby enemies with ferocious flames.

Arise (Reraise ATB) – Revive ally and restore all HP.

Reraise (0 ATB) – Automatically revive a fallen ally one time.

Rebirth Flame – Deals a massive amount of Fire Magic damage and heals the party.

  • +2 MP
  • +8 Magic Attack
  • +4 Magic

The Phoenix is perhaps the best support Summon you can have, with abilities that not only deal damage but also help your party recover in dangerous situations. While there are very few stat boosts provided by the Phoenix, the low cost of its skills makes up for this limitation. This Summon will automatically revive an ally one time during a fight where it is called upon, letting any party you create keep fighting in FF7 Rebirth.

This Summon doesn’t revolve around hitting enemies, but rather acting as a source of healing to your allies. Similar to Aerith’s Healing Wind Limit Break, the Phoenix in FF7 Rebirth can provide a guaranteed way to restore health without using important items like Potions or Phoenix Downs. This can be very helpful in the middle Chapters of the story, where tough fights could cause you to use up these items easily.

4 Alexander

Divine Golem of Absolute Strength

Ability #1

Ability #2

Ultimate Ability

Stat Boosts

Tracking Beam (1 ATB) – Fire myriad lasers at an enemy.

Grand Laser (2 ATB) – Fire an enormous beam of light at an enemy.

Divine Judgment – Deals a massive amount of non-elemental Magic damage.

  • +129 HP
  • +1 MP
  • +2 Defense
  • +2 Magic Defense
  • +2 Vitality
  • +2 Spirit

The Summon Alexander is similar to Titan, giving your party massive boosts to your HP and defensive attributes in FF7 Rebirth. This massive Golem is slightly different though, providing more benefits to your health rather than your characters’ ability to resist enemy strikes. Not many items or Summons give a bonus to the Spirit stat either, making Alexander stand out from other creatures you can conjure.

As you can see in a video by YouTube creator Direct Gaming, Alexander is one of the harder boss fights to beat in the game. Those who do manage to get Alexander’s red Materia will have a creature capable of inflicting huge damage to single targets through their abilities. This makes this Summon perfect for boss fights, but perhaps not the best choice against large enemy hordes in FF7 Rebirth.

3 Odin

Staggering Knight of Renown

FF7 Rebirth Odin summon

Ability #1

Ability #2

Ultimate Ability

Stat Boosts

Allfather’s Fury (1 ATB) – Deliver a series of deadly sword strikes.

Ring of Helheim (2 ATB) – Swiftly approach the target to deal damage to nearby enemies. Increased damage on stagger.

Zantetsuken – Deals a massive amount of non-elemental Magic damage.

  • +2 MP
  • +8 Attack
  • +4 Strength

Odin from past Final Fantasy titles makes a nostalgic return as a Summon you can gain toward the last few sections of the game. Odin does a tremendous amount of stagger on your enemies with their attacks, allowing you to stun opponents easily in combat. Unleashing Limit Breaks or the strongest abilities of different characters becomes much easier as you reach an enemy’s stagger breaking point quickly.

As you find the last few Summons available in the game, allies like Odin begin to stand out as truly powerful creatures to call to your side. The stat boosts from Odin are higher than most Summons, with the Attack and Strength bonuses making everyone in your party much stronger. The final Chapters of FF7 Rebirth‘s story have challenging foes for your party to beat, so having better offense on your team will go a long way.

2 Bahamut Arisen

Dragon of Legend

FF7 Rebirth Bahamut Arisen summon

Ability #1

Ability #2

Ultimate Ability

Stat Boosts

Umbral Bombardment (1 ATB) – Fire an array of magical orbs that send out shockwaves on impact.

Infernal Rush (1 ATB) – Unleash a combo attack on an enemy.

Gigaflare – Deals a massive amount of non-elemental Magic damage.

  • +2 MP
  • +2 Magic
  • +4 Magic Attack
  • +4 Attack
  • +2 Strength

If Alexander was meant to take on single targets, the Summon Bahamut Arisen was designed to take on armies of enemies sent to harm your party. This upgraded and familiar dragon excels at clearing arenas that would normally overwhelm your small team of three characters in FF7 Rebirth. Similar to Odin, Bahamut Arisen gives its allies great offensive boosts to overcome difficult combat encounters.

One of the best benefits of using Bahamut Arisen comes from how little ATB it takes to activate any of its abilities. Spamming Umbral Bombardment and Infernal Rush gives you ways to have your Summon participate more in fights in FF7 Rebirth. With certain spells like Haste activated from Magic Materia, you can even gain more ATB to use these skills more often in combat.

1 Gilgamesh

Secret Samurai of True Strength

Ability #1

Ability #2

Ultimate Ability

Stat Boosts

Spatial Rend (1 ATB) – Brings down his axe with enough force to send out a wide-ranging shockwave. Increased damage on stagger.

Pinwheel (1 ATB) – Charge toward an enemy while swiftly spinning his naginata.

Ultimate Illusion – Deals a massive amount of non-elemental damage.

  • +88 HP
  • +3 MP
  • +2 Magic
  • +4 Magic Attack
  • +4 Attack
  • +2 Strength

There is nothing that the Summon Gilgamesh cannot do, but you need to fully upgrade all other obtainable Summons to unlock the quest for this hidden ally. As you can see in a video by YouTube creator GamersPrey, investigating Phenomena throughout the story will help you uncover the location of a secret island where you can challenge Gilgamesh as a boss.

Gilgamesh can stagger enemies, crowd-control hostile hordes, deal huge single-target damage, and boost nearly every one of your party’s stats. The low ATB cost of all this Summon’s skills makes them a reliable ally as well. While it may be a long time before you can call upon Gilgamesh, the sheer versatility of this warrior makes them the strongest Summon in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth without a doubt.
