The 10 Best Movies in Theaters Right Now

February brought movies from different genres and for viewers of all ages, and these, along with the first big releases of March, can be enjoyed in theaters right now. After a couple of rough years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 2023 was a huge year for cinema, with massive box-office successes like Barbie and Oppenheimer, and critically acclaimed stories like Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. 2024 also has various highly-anticipated movies coming up, of which some can be currently enjoyed in theaters.

January 2024 was a surprisingly busy month when it comes to theatrical releases, and February carried on with some exciting titles, such as Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle, Zelda Williams’ Lisa Frankenstein, and more. Along with February’s most popular movies, some of January’s biggest and most popular movies can still be enjoyed in theaters, and joining them now are the second part of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, a bizarre but exciting horror movie, and an Oscar-nominated movie with an interesting narrative.

10 Dune: Part Two

Dune: Part Two was released on March 1, 2024.

The second part of Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel Dune is now in theaters. Dune: Part Two sees Paul Atreides uniting with Chani and the Fremen as he seeks revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. If that wasn’t enough, Paul will face a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the universe, and must prevent a terrible future that only he can foresee.

9 Stopmotion

Stopmotion was released on February 23, 2024.

Stopmotion is an adult animated horror movie that combines live-action and stop-motion animation. Stopmotion tells the story of Ella Blake, the daughter of stop-motion animator Suzanne. When she’s unable to continue working due to arthritis, Suzanne enlists Ella’s help, and after Suzanne suffers a stroke, Ella decides to finish her movie. However, Ella soon finds herself consumed by the grotesque world of her horrifying creations, and everything quickly takes a deadly turn.

8 Drive-Away Dolls

Drive-Away Dolls was released on February 23, 2024.

Drive-Away Dolls is a comedy road film that takes viewers back to 1999 to meet friends Jamie and Marian – Jamie is a free spirit, while Marian needs to learn to loosen up. After yet another breakup, Jamie convinces Marian to go on an impromptu road trip to Tallahassee with her, with the purpose of having a fresh start. However, their plans soon take a wild turn when they come across a group of inept criminals who hid something very important to them in the rental car that was given to Jamie and Marian by mistake.

7 Ordinary Angels

Ordinary Angels was released on February 23, 2024.

Ordinary Angels is a drama movie based on a true story. In 1994 Louisville, Kentucky, a hairdresser named Sharon Stevens rallies the community to help a widower father save the life of his critically ill daughter after the town is hit by a major snowstorm from the 1994 North American cold wave. Ordinary Angels was originally scheduled for an October 13, 2023, release, but it was delayed to avoid competition with Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.

6 Madame Web

Madame Web was released on February 14, 2024.

The latest installment in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is Madame Web. It tells the story of Cassandra Webb, a paramedic who develops psychic abilities that show her future events within the “spider world”. Her new powers force Cassandra to confront her past while she also does her best to protect three young women with powerful futures who are being chased by a mysterious enemy who wants to kill them.

4 Land of Bad

Land of Bad was released on February 16, 2024.

Land of Bad is an action thriller that follows US Air Force drone pilot Captain Eddie “Reaper” Grimm, who provides air support from a General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper to a US Army Delta Force team on the ground in the Philippines. When the Delta Force team is ambushed in enemy territory and rookie officer Kinney refuses to abandon them, Reaper becomes their only hope as he serves as their eyes in the sky during a long 48-hour battle for survival.

Lisa Frankenstein was released on February 9, 2024.

Lisa Frankenstein is a horror comedy film inspired by Mary Shelley’s 1818 classic Frankenstein. Set in 1989, Lisa Frankenstein tells the story of Lisa Swallows, a goth teenage misfit who brings back to life the corpse of a once-handsome Victorian-era young man she had been obsessing over. Lisa and The Creature then embark on a murderous journey to find the missing body parts for his corpse so he can be properly rebuilt, while they also find true love and happiness in this chaotic adventure.

Perfect Days was released on February 7, 2024.

Perfect Days is a drama movie that combines four short stories. Hirayama works as a public toilet cleaner in Tokyo, and he feels content with his job. Outside his well-structured routine, Hirayama enjoys listening to music on cassette tapes, taking photos, and reading books, and through unexpected encounters, he reflects on the search for beauty in the world. Perfect Days is nominated for Best International Feature Film at the Oscars.

Argylle was released on February 1, 2024.

Argylle is a spy action thriller that tells the story of a reclusive writer named Elly Conway. Her novels tell the missions of a secret agent named Argylle, but suddenly, the plots of her novels start to mirror the actions of a sinister underground syndicate. Elly ends up being dragged into a covert world where nothing and no one is what they seem, and, of course, there will be lots of action.
