Zack Snyder Claims More People Saw Rebel Moon Than Barbie, Explains His Math

Zack Snyder explains his logic behind more people watching Rebel Moon than Barbie, bringing some Netflix viewership figures into the equation.

This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.

Rebel Moon director Zack Snyder explains his math behind more people watching his Netflix space opera than Barbie. Released on Netflix in December, Rebel Moon is Snyder’s passion project, with a story that follows Kora (Sofia Boutella), a lone warrior, as she gathers fighters to defend a peaceful colony. The movie came about five months after the release of Barbie, which not only earned glowing reviews but became a box office sensation.

During a recent appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience, Snyder explains why Rebel Moon was watched more than Barbie.

Snyder reveals the approximate Rebel Moon Netflix viewership figures and translates these into a theoretical box office haul, and the filmmaker’s number beats the $1.446 billion earned by Barbie. Read his full comment below:

“You think about Netflix, for instance, where you push a button. Rebel Moon, right? Say right now it’s almost at 90 million views, right? 80 or 90 million accounts turned it on, give or take. They assume two viewers per screening, right? That’s the kind of math.

“So you think if that movie was in the theater as a distribution model, that’s like 160,000,000 people supposedly watching based on that math. 160,000,000 people at $10 a ticket would be…what is that math? I don’t know. 160,000,000 times ten. That’s 1.6 billion. So more people probably saw Rebel Moon than saw Barbie in the theater, right?”

More to come…
