Fort Condor is one of the many mini-games available in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. It is based on the Fort Condor defense mission from the original PlayStation release in 1997. Many strategies still apply for unit types, but the mode has been further streamlined.

Fort Condor is a side activity and is not fully required to complete Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. However, completing all four maps will reward you with the Protorelic for the Junon region. This is part of a larger questline to eventually challenge Gilgamesh, the time-traveling swordsman from Final Fantasy 5 who has reappeared throughout the series.

Fort Condor mostly relies on a Rock-Paper-Scissors style system to determine which characters are strong and weak against each other. In this case, it is Defense-Attack-Ranged. Some neutral units are evenly matched but tend to have little means of self-defense. They must rely on the primary trinity of troops to survive.

How To Counter Enemies

To complete the Protorelic quest, you must finish four Fort Condor missions in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. There are additional challenges, but they are not required for the side quest. Each map has a pre-made enemy loadout. The key is to select and deploy similar numbers to counteract them. As for Hero Units, Cloud is typically the safest in all situations, and Tifa is better if you want to end the encounter quickly, while Barret adds even more defense.

Once the final mission is cleared, you will receive the Protorelic and be free to explore the rest of the Junon zone. Consider advancing to the city of Junon proper. This is where you will finally meet Yuffie in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, though going too far into the main quest might make it harder to return to the Fort Condor terminal.
