Summary

  • Omni-Man’s son Oliver ages faster due to unique biology, aging faster than humans but slower than Thraxans.
  • Oliver’s aging slows down over time due to dominant Viltrumite DNA, leading to unique accelerated aging effects.
  • Mark and Oliver have potential to live for thousands of years, with Mark being half-human and half-Viltrumite.

Omni-Man has a new son in Invincible, and the character’s unique biology has many fans wondering exactly how fast the character ages. The different aging methods across Invincible‘s various alien races is one of the most interesting parts of the show, with some characters aging normally, some aging fast, some aging slow, and some aging backward. Invincible season 2’s introduction of Omni-Man’s son has added another unique aging timeline, and although it may seem confusing, the show has actually already explained how this new character’s aging works.

Invincible season 2, part 2 is finally here, with Amazon Prime Video now releasing the highly anticipated continuation of their critically acclaimed animated superhero series that is adapted from the comic books of the same name. The newest batch of episodes picks up right where Invincible season 2, part 1 ended, with Mark returning home after meeting his father on Thraxa. While on Thraxa, Mark discovers that he has a half-brother, with Omni-Man’s new son Oliver going home and being taken care of by Mark and Debbie. However, there are still a lot of confusing questions about the young alien.

Omni-Man’s Son Ages Faster Than Humans & Viltrumites

While on Thraxa, Omni-Man had another child with a Thraxan named Andressa, with the half-Viltrumite half-Thraxan kid having a unique biology. Thraxans age unusually fast, with the average Thraxan lifespan being around nine months, while Viltrumites age unusually slowly, with many Viltrumites living thousands of years. Due to Oliver having a unique blend of the two species’ DNA, Oliver’s aging timeline is different. Oliver does age a lot faster than humans and Viltrumites, but he also ages slower than Thraxans, putting him somewhere in the middle.

Invincible Season 3: Cast, Story, & Everything We Know

The Amazon Prime Video series Invincible shined during its first two seasons, and here’s everything we know about the upcoming season 3.

In the comics that Invincible season 2 will cover, Oliver ages months in a matter of weeks, showing that the accelerated aging from Oliver’s Thraxan side is alive and well. However, he still ages slower than a full Thraxan would, which is why Andressa decided to give him up. Interestingly, Oliver’s aging actually slows down as time goes on, with him developing slower the longer he lives. Nolan’s Viltrumite DNA is dominant, with it slowly overtaking the Thraxan DNA and causing this odd effect on Oliver’s accelerated aging, with it decelerating as the story goes on.

How Old Omni-Man’s Son Actually Is In Invincible

Invincible and Kid Omni-Man

In Invincible season 2, Omni-Man’s son Oliver is still fairly young by the end of episode 5, with him having the appearance of a two-year-old after being alive for only two months. Oliver continues to grow through his adolescence pretty quickly, with the comics showing that he looks like he is five after only a few more weeks. Oliver eventually becomes a teenager and takes up the mantle of Kid Omni-Man, with him initially acting as Invincible’s sidekick. However, Oliver leaves Earth at this time, with him aging while he is away fighting in a war with the Viltrumites.

Oliver is away from Earth for 10 months, and while he left as a teenager, he comes back as a fully grown adult. Oliver is essentially caught up to Mark at this point, but he still ages a little faster than him. Upon reaching adulthood, Oliver’s Viltrumite DNA really causes his aging to slow, with him pretty much staying around this age for the rest of the comic series. Oliver’s Thraxan DNA becomes much less present by this point in the story, meaning that Oliver as a kid probably won’t be around the Invincible show for long.

10 Invincible Characters Steven Yeun Could Play In The Live-Action Movie

Steven Yeun voices Mark Grayson in Amazon Prime Video’s Invincible animated show, and here’s who he can play in the live-action Invincible movie.

How Long Mark & His Brother Can Live In Invincible

Due to Mark and Oliver aging differently, many Invincible fans are wondering exactly how long the characters can live in the world of the show. According to the comics, most Viltrumites can live for thousands of years, something that will significantly increase both of their lifespans. Oliver is only a couple of years old when he is killed by the villainous Thragg in Invincible, meaning that his true potential is never seen. However, Omni-Man speculates that Oliver could have lived for centuries, meaning that he won’t be far off from his fellow Viltrumites.

Mark ages normally as the story of Invincible goes on, with him being half-Viltrumite and half-human. These two species are compatible with each other, as Nolan explains, meaning that Mark can also live for thousands of years like the other Viltrumites. The question of how long Mark could live is technically never answered perfectly in Invincible, but the comics do paint him as living the lifespan of his fellow Viltrumites.
