Starfield Shattered Space DLC Release Date May Be Sooner Than You Think

Starfield may have already delivered a vast and sprawling universe for sci-fi fans to explore, but it could soon expand even more with the Shattered Space DLC release. Ahead of the massive role-playing game’s launch in 2023, developer Bethesda Game Studios promised that it was planning on at least one major story DLC for the game. While details on Shattered Space, the title of the expansion, are still scarce, Starfield fans are speculating that it could arrive very soon.

Per a screenshot of the game’s SteamDB page, posted by u/Salmagros on the Starfield Reddit, the Downloadable Content menu was seemingly updated with an addition titled “SteamDB Unknown App 2721670.” It’s currently unknown whether this has any correlation with the Shattered Space DLC, but its quiet inclusion on the webpage has many speculating that an announcement could be imminent. The only other items added to the DLC page include entries for the “Starfield – Preorder” and the “Starfield Digital Premium Edition Upgrade.”

Bethesda doesn’t have to go far to find ideas for Starfield DLC, as there are a plethora of features in the game that would do well to be expanded.

When Will Shattered Space Launch?

While fans may have only picked up on the SteamDB update in late February, Bethesda Game Studios initially stated in December 2023 that it was planning on updating Starfield every six weeks from February on. However, the developer was pretty vague about when Shattered Space would launch, only calling it “our first major expansion coming next year.” The developer has yet to reveal any further information on when players can expect the DLC to release.

Bethesda has promised several exciting new additions to the game with the Starfield Shattered Space DLC. These include a new chapter in the story, new locations to explore, and a plethora of new items to equip while adventuring through the grand cosmos of the galaxy. Fans who purchased the Premium Edition of Starfield will be able to access the DLC for free, but those who picked up the Standard Edition will need to pay for it separately.

What Other Starfield Updates Are on the Way?

Shattered Space isn’t the only major update Starfield fans are desperately awaiting. Bethesda has promised that a Creation Kit suite will be added to the game through a post-launch update, meaning that players wanting to mod their experience will soon have the tools to do so. Unfortunately, much like Shattered Space, details on when the Creation Kit will arrive are still unknown.
