What’s more exciting than the Suits L.A. spinoff series is the prospect of former Suits stars taking part in it, and there’s a good chance that could happen. Suits’ cast of characters have enamored audiences with superior charisma and witty banter since the original legal drama series debuted in 2011, airing the dirty laundry of one of the top law firms in New York City. The series had just the right blend of legal substance and messy conflict, and it’s as popular now as it was then, with Suit’s recent Netflix resurgence testifying to its revered cast and narrative.

Four years after the series ended in 2019, Suits found a second wind, dominating at the top of streaming charts for several consecutive weeks. Because of its incredible resurgence, a Suits spinoff entitled Suits L.A. was quickly given the green light by NBCUniversal under the hand of original Suits creator and writer Aaron Korsh. The confirmation of a Suits spinoff was already cause for celebration, except a recent tease hyping the chances of former stars reappearing in the future of the franchise now makes Suits L.A. all the more exciting.

Suits L.A. has gotten the ball rolling with pre-production, casting stars such as Arrow actor Stephan Amell, The First Purge’s Lex Scott Davis, and actors Troy Winbush and Josh McDermitt. Though more about the Suits spinoff is left unclear, fresh insight has escaped through trickling updates and clouded teases. Lex Scott Davis, slated to play the character of Erica Rollins, was able to give away some insight in an interview recently, solidly expressing a Suits L.A. filming date of April 2024 but also tantalizingly baiting audiences with the chances of former Suits characters returning for the spinoff.

Admittedly, her response only alludes to a likelihood, but the fact that Scott Davis did not vote out the idea altogether is good news.

The Suits L.A. star teased the original castmates’ return by mentioning that “maybe” there will be “some sort of rollover from the original cast” and that “it’s not impossible.” Admittedly, her response only alludes to a likelihood, but the fact that Scott Davis did not vote out the idea altogether is good news. Her comments don’t necessarily favor the chance that original Suits cast members will fill recurring or prominent roles, though they could suggest very promising cameos or special appearances.

The Best Way To Bring Suits Actors Back For Suits L.A. Would Be As Cameos

The best way to bring back original Suits actors would be by way of cameos. Guest appearances of the original main cast dispersed here and there throughout Suits L.A. would be the best incentive for old Suits fans to tune in while allowing the spinoff to find its footing without being overly dependent on the original series. Too many appearances of former Suits characters would distract from the spinoff’s ability to build its legacy as an independent series, and too few cameo occurrences honestly wouldn’t be any fun for anybody.

In any capacity, many cast mates of the Suits series have been ready and open to reprising their roles. No original cast members are confirmed for a return; however, several former Suits actors and actresses, including Gina Torres, Rick Hoffman, Sarah Rafferty, Gabriel Macht, and Patrick J. Adams, have expressed their enthusiasm for their characters to return for Suits L.A. or a comparable series. Ultimately, it wouldn’t be that hard to write former characters into the Suits L.A. script, as it’s not inconceivable that the vast, interconnected sphere of law would warrant connections between old and new characters.

Suits L.A. Is Exciting Not Just Because It May Feature Suits Characters

Whether the original Suits characters appear or not, Suits L.A. has an interesting enough premise and a promising enough cast to strive on its own. The upcoming series will star Amell as Ted Black, a former New York prosecutor who moved to L.A. to build a law firm specializing in criminal and entertainment law. Scott Davis will support him as a Harvard law alum, Rollins, jockeying to be Head of Entertainment, and McDermitt and Winbush will play Black’s partner at the firm and an FBI agent who works for Black as a personal investigator, respectively.

Suits L.A. looks to be an appreciable replacement for its predecessor, with complicated dynamics and the scramble for excellence seemingly already established at the core of its storyline. Additionally, stars like Amell and Scott Davis are leading the charge, hopefully carrying the torch of the Suits franchise’s reputation for casting a compelling and charismatic cast of characters. Since production has already started, Suits L.A. is not too far off into the future – and not only will audiences receive more information as the debut date nears, but they’ll soon witness how well the spinoff weighs up to the original.
